Caesarean Birth:
Making Informed Choices.

Our organization, Birthrites: Healing After Caesarean Inc. received a $5000 grant from the WA Lotteries Commission to produce a booklet titled
"Caesarean Birth: Making Informed Choices."

Therefore, within Western Australia the booklet was initially free, even in bulk shipments, to hospitals, birth centres, midwives, consumers, etc, (... until our stocks ran out!). We only asked that the cost of postage and packaging was reimbursed.

Within 6 weeks of this initial printing the demand from hospitals within WA, and other childbirth information organizations, depleted our supplies down to about 50 copies. Hence we now provide a second self-funded printing of this valued resource.

What information does the booklet contain?

The booklet endeavours to outline the pros, cons, risks and consequences of caesarean birth. It is 52 pages long, and is A5 in size (A4 folded, or approximately 6 x 8.5 inches). It is crammed full of information detailing the physical and emotional aspects of caesarean birth, and the challenges of planning future births - exploring the VBAC option in some detail, but also outlining ways to plan a positive caesarean.The booklet considers issues in a before/during/after format to enable women to make informed choices and provide relevant information in relation to caesarean section birth.

The Birthrites booklet has been developed following extensive consultation with consumers, midwives, obstetricians and other parties. Any medical information it contains was proofread by medical practitioners, to make sure it was as accurate as possible at the time of printing, as our organization does not claim to have the qualifications to provide this.

Distributing the booklets.
The booklet can be purchased directly from Birthrites. Please provide ordering information via this email address: booklets@birthrites.org at a cost of $4.00/booklet, plus postage. Note that we only provide postage within Australia. Additional postage costs apply for International customers.

The postage/packaging is:  $2 for up to 5 booklets,  $10 for 6 - 25 booklets. $20 for 26 - 100.  These prices are for anywhere in australia and are for the entire order not per booklet.  Orders over 100 will have their postage charges added to their invoice.
