I have just recently started using an IUD. I would like to know what damage it is that IUD/Abortions can do to affect the birthing process. I gather that it has something to do with scaring the cervix. Can you tell me why it occurs and whether is is a common occurence for this to happen? What remedies could you suggest to heal the scar?

Whilst this topic is perhaps outside the scope of this site, there is a recent review article on the use of IUD's in the Lancet by Grimes. http://www.thelancet.com/journal/vol356/iss9234/abs/llan.356.9234.editorial_and_review.10430.1
He summarises the question of IUD and fertility as "Fair evidence indicates no important effect of IUD use on infertility."
I know of no evidence on the effect of the IUD on labour or birth.
