I had my first child May 99 by Elective Caesar. There were many reasons for this including: gestational diabeties, large baby (8pd 4oz), 41wks and cervix was still hard, severe depression etc etc. I would like to have another child in the future and would like to know what my chances of having a successful VBAC are. I suffered depression during my last pregnancy and still suffer now. Part of my post problem has been inability to accept I had a caeser - I still feel guilty for not trying a natural and taking "the easy way out". I know emotionally at the time I wouldn't have coped with a natural but now really really want one.

There is no reason you shouldn't try for vaginal birth next pregnancy. For women with one previous caesar, expected chance of vaginal birth would be 60-80%.
Perhaps, though, you should measure "success", not in terms of just a vaginal birth, but in terms of how you feel empowered by knowledge and support to make your own fully informed decisions next pregnancy. You are already on that path to "success" by contacting this site, and I'd encourage you to seek the wisdom and support of other women through support groups in your area or on the VBAC forum at this site.
