Birthrites: Healing After Caesarean.

Caesarean Section by Choice (pdf file)
This is a fantastic article about the ethics of cs by request- it is one of the few from a medical background that actually take into consideration issues of empowerment and speaks about rights not from the perspective that it is women's right to choose cs, but it is women's right to refuse it. Also talks about the doctors ethics of care etc. All of this stuff isn't new to many of us, but it is written really eloquently and amazing that it comes from a medical journal.

This is a website from Canada with heaps of links to papers on cs. Some papers are published as recently as 2007 and 2006. There is some really solid evidence here about the risks of cs to mother and baby, including one study that found the risk of baby needing to go to NICU doubled after a planned cs. Also another study showing risks of serious morbidity for mother after planned cs was 27%. Another article in birth journal that dispels the myth that women requesting cs are behind the rising rates.
