Hi Chloe and Rick
The research recommends an interval of at least 18months between the caesarean section and the next pregnancy. One study, an observational cohort from Montreal: Interdelivery interval and uterine rupture published in the American Journal of Obs and Gynae, Vol 187, page 1199, 2002 found that: Uterine rupture rate was 4.8% for interdelivery interval of less than 1 year, 2.7% for interval 13-24 months and 0.9% for greater than 24 months. The authors concluded that an interdelivery interval of less than 24 months was associated with a 2-3 fold increase in the risk of uterine rupture.
Having said that, this is just one study and there are many women who have gone on to have successful pregnancies with less than 18 months between them.
I'd recommend good preconceptual care so that you can prepare for another pregnancy and be in the healthiest condition possible.
