Hi,

My Husband and I are trying for a third child. We will be having he/she by elective caeser. My 1st two were born by caeser, the 1st by emergency and the 2nd by elective. They are 14.5 months apart in age. The next 2 will be 18 months apart provided I fall pregnant now. My question is, should I be doing any tummy exercises now to get my tummy stronger for the caeser, or should I wait a couple more months. My Husband and I would like to have our children close in age so they grow up together. I hope this question makes sense.

Thanks for reading my question.

Kimberley

Hi Kimberley

The research does show with a birth interval of less than 18 months there is a slightly increased risk of uterine rupture. Being in the best physical shape possible is always a good idea in planning another pregnancy. Have you thought about seeing a Naturopath for some preconceptual advice as well? This would be important to ensure that your scar is well healed and you're in tiptop health for a pregnancy.

Take Care
