Come along and talk about your experiences or just listen to other women's stories.Hear how other women have coped with (or are coping with) the challenges of planning a VBAC/HBAC or Positive Caesarean Birth.

Jane provides a free VBAC support service, providing information and telephone counselling. As an independent midwife, Jane supports women giving birth at home, hospital or birth centre, with continuity of care through pregnancy, birth and beyond. Jane runs regular Active Birth Workshops, private childbirth classes and VBAC classes.

Dates of the 'Active Birth Workshops' for 2002: They are held in Dundas (Sydney) are on the 23rd March, 22nd June, 14th September, 7th December. These workshops would be ideal for women planning a VBAC (or EBAC)


Healing the Wound (VBAC/EBAC) and Positive Birthing workshops are run as part of a comprehensive support program operating as part of the Midwifery Unit of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group
(Warragul)

*The Healing the Wound workshop is aimed at women and their partners who have had one or more caesareans and are planning a VBAC/EBAC.

*Positive Birthing workshops are aimed at couples whoÕs birth was not as positive as they had hoped.

Workshops are similar in content, however the emphasis is altered according to the groups.

CONTENT

  • Examines fear, moving past fear, empowerment and making conscious choices
  • Explores belief systems, positive & negative, and their impact on birthing & parenthood
  • Reviews birth experience(s) and explores options for overcoming barriers.
  • Examines choices, relationships and attitudes with the aim of developing positive outcomes.

THE WORKSHOPS:

  • Are exploratory
  • Promote discussion between couples and between couples and their carers
  • Encourages review and examination of attitudes to birth, both past and present

A discussion based evening - focused on empowerment of the individual
Held in the Seminar Room at:
West Gippsland Hospital
2 hours: 7.30 pm -9.30 pm

- Aimed at couples, their midwives and their support people

- Maximum number of 6 couples per workshop

Cost is free to clients of WGH.
A fee of $50 applies to participants from other healthcare units
